De-Europeanizing at the UN? The Impact of the International Economic Crisis on Italian Foreign Policy

2015

Among the mechanisms identified in the literature on the Europeanization of Italian foreign policy, the idea of belonging to a group or "we-feeling" plays an important role. By shaking the idea of European solidarity, the international economic crisis has promoted greater Euroscepticism in Italy, suggesting that the previously recorded Europeanization of Italian foreign policy could eventually also be affected. The article explores whether and how much Italian foreign policy has been de-Europeanized by comparing Italian behavior at the UN before and after the crisis. This arena has the advantage of allowing an analysis of behavior on the most important foreign policy issues, but it is also …

What psycholinguistics teaches …

Jurisdiction in cases of divorce, legal separation or marriage annulment

2021

The subject of coordination is fundamental for the functioning of jurisdictional rules of the Regulation n.2016/1103 on matrimonial property regimes and Regulation n.2016/1104 on the property consequences of registered partnerships. Both Property Regimes Regulations have the purpose of gathering litigation before the courts of one Member State and have the related procedures managed by the courts of the same Member State. Recital 34 of Regulation No. 2016/1103 specifies that matters of matrimonial property regime related to proceedings pending before the court of a member state hearing an application for divorce, legal separation or marriage annulment should be dealt with by the courts of t…

[I062] The roles of radiographers in medical imaging and radiotherapy in Europe

2018

Very fast development of technologies in medical imaging and therapy has changed the role of radiographer in Europe. Over the past ten years education and necessary skills and competencies for radiographers has become more similar in most EU countries due to input of EFRS Educational Wing, but there are still rather significant differences in the roles of radiographers between countries. Role expansion is often initiated by external and internal factors that lead to advanced practice for radiographers. However, there is also a limiting factor that functions as a barrier for development of radiographer’s role and mainly that is connected to resistance when radiologists/medical physicists obj…

Party autonomy regarding jurisdiction under the property regimes regulations

2021

The main accomplishment of the Property Regimes Regulations lies in their bringing more coherence into the cross-border family law adjudication. In the field of international jurisdiction, they strive to align the competence in couples? patrimony disputes to that in succession and in separation proceedings, or else to align the competence of the courts to the applicable law. These tendencies are clearly visible in the Regulations? provisions on choice of court agreements. Namely, the Regulations allow for such agreements, but severely limit parties? choice and the possible effects of these clauses. 2018

Performance Dissimilarities in European Union Manufacturing: The Effect of Ownership and Technological Intensity

2021

Our paper addresses the relevance of a set of continuous and categorical variables that describe industry characteristics to differences in performance between foreign versus locally owned companies in industries with dissimilar levels of technological intensity. Including data on manufacturing sector performance from 20 European Union member countries and covering the 2009–2016 period, we used the random forests methodology to identify the best predictors of EU manufacturing industries’ a priori classification based on two main attributes: ownership (foreign versus local) and technological intensity. We found that EU foreign-owned businesses dominate locally owned ones in terms of size, wh…
